Dr. Andrea Bivens has been my veterinarian since she came to Port Charlotte. Over the years, she has treated over 12 dogs, 8 cats, and one macaw of mine. She also has provided feral cat care and management to my neighborhood cat colony. Along with a compassionate and considerate approach, Dr. Bivens has a refreshing, no-nonsense, and professional attitude.

Dr. Bivens is an OUTSTANDING diagnostician, and I trust her professional opinion completely. She is particular in her choice of vaccines, vaccination protocol, medicines, treatment and office equipment. All are thoughtfully chosen based on providing the best medical care for her patients.

I want to thank Dr. Bivens for helping my cat Rufee get back to a happy, healthy kitty. He had Inflammatory Bowel Disease and diarrhea problems for over a year. We tried everything to get him better. He improved but he still had a problem. By happenchance we met Dr. Bivens who helped with Rufee’s care. Dr. Bivens changed his diet which led to a dramatic improvement in his bowel movements. With this change, we’ve been able to adjust his medications, so he now takes minimal doses for his health issue. He’s gained weight, feels better, and his prognosis looks excellent. I belong to an internet forum and have shared my story with others whose pets have the same issues. I’m pleased to report that three others have made changes as Dr. Bivens did with Rufee and the success stories are the same.

Andrea is an awesome veterinarian whom I have placed total trust in caring for my numerous Goldens over the years. Her knowledge, attention to detail, compassion, outside the box approach to uncommon conditions combined with her great personality make her an invaluable asset to all animals and animal lovers in SW Florida. I have known Dr. Bivens for 16 years. During periods of that time, she has been both my pets’ veterinarian and/or my employer. I, therefore, have seen both her patient side methods as well as what occurs behind the scenes. My experience has been that once Dr. Bivens has seen a patient, she is tenacious in her efforts to diagnose and treat the pet. I have witnessed her to be honest and forthcoming with her clients, and I have watched her research alternative therapies when a firstline treatment fails.

I have had many dogs in my life, and they are and were very dear to me. In saying that, I have gone to many vets from NY, to California to Florida. I not only look for someone who is knowledgeable, professional, and highly intelligent, but has compassion and a true love of animals. Dr. Bivens fits the bill to a T. She listens to what the patient has to say which is rare for any doctor these days. I don’t think you could do better for your pet anywhere. I only wish she also treated people!
